![]() Each leaf represents $200,000 in donations. Our goal is $8 million. |
As part of our mission, IslandWood has always prioritized serving the students and schools with the fewest resources. Now, almost half of the schools that participate in our School Overnight Program receive scholarship funding from IslandWood. Like most high-quality education, our tuition does not cover the cost of delivering our programs, particularly given the under-resourced populations we serve. IslandWood’s capital improvements will not only allow us to serve more Puget Sound children, but will also enable us to grow our high-revenue adult programs, which help offset the costs of our school programs and ensure the long-term viability of this mission-critical work. To date, the capital campaign has received $7,442,200 in support, but we still have a long way to go. With your help, we can bring the wonders of environmental learning to kids around the state. "To me, IslandWood at its heart embodies the idea of hope—the hope that we can make a difference. I believe that 15 years from now these kids will look back at their experiences with more than nostalgia. Many will see it as a defining moment in their lives, and their memories of their time at IslandWood will inspire them to do their part."Timm Tripp, IslandWood Docent |
![]() "Among all the ways in which IslandWood has distinguished itself, its service to low-income communities is its most distinctive feature. The center's commitment to equality opens a door to provide a meaningful opportunity to understand the natural environment.
